The handmade solid sterling silver pendant of Icarus, a character from Greek mythology whose story has captured the imaginations of people for centuries. According to the legend, Icarus and his father Daedalus were imprisoned on the island of Crete and needed to escape. Daedalus created wings made of feathers and wax for himself and Icarus to fly away. However, Icarus was warned not to fly too close to the sun or too close to the sea, as the wax would melt or the feathers would get wet. Icarus, in his excitement, flew too close to the sun and his wings melted, causing him to fall into the sea and drown.

The story of Icarus is often seen as a cautionary tale about the dangers of ambition and hubris, but it also speaks to the human desire to reach for the skies and explore the unknown, even at great risk.
